FIRE STRIP ROLL™ - 1 PK

The media could not be loaded. When I first tried to light it with a fire steal it didn't light even with roughing it up a bit. Even still I thought that it was great for starting a fire fast and or making a lot of heat fast, which it is and I really like that I can choose how much I want to use. That said I later tried to light it with a spark and took about an inch folded it in half and then tore it making a v shape but MULTIPLE TIMES with double the thickness. This took the first spark and lit right up and has seemed to be a reliable method thus far. You ABSOLUTELY have to rip it to expose the fibers. I would suggest pulling it apart and not tearing it. If you want a slower burn then fold it tightly and light it, and if you want a fast inferno fluff it all up and make a tangled ball. I love the versatility compact form and the amount is decent. The only thing I don't love is that it doesn't like to take a spark as easily as I would want a tinder to. I've actually wanted to try this tinder for awhile so I'm happy it's finnaly on Amazon. As far as water goes it's hydrophobic but the water does eventually cling to it. It does burn when it's wet just a lot slower and it needs more than a spark if it got soaked. I only ran water over it and rubbed it in on another test. It's smaller than I thought it would be but I've been pulling it out testing and there's still plenty.

This stuff is great! It lights well and burns pretty well, shouldn't take more than 2 inches or so to get a fire started.And for anyone reading multiple reviews and wanting to try this, please note that you have to process it some. You can't just rip a portion off and throw sparks at it, you have to break up the wax and pull it apart where you broke the wax to expose the fibers. Works incredibly well with even a spark wheel.

I got this as another form of fire starter to put in emergency kits for vehicles and to carry when I'm out in nature. Of course I test everything before I decide to bet my safety and survival on any product. I took a 3/4" piece, scraped the surface to expose some of the fibers, and it lit right up with one ferro rod strike. It burned well and long enough so you could add tinder and get a fire going. If you know what you are doing, you could probably get away with using an even smaller piece than 3/4". So I got it as a backup and flame extender but it could easily be used as a primary method of starting your fires if you are so inclined. I try to have a variety of options as I don't know who might have to start the fire for me especially if there is an injury involved. I know I can start a fire with this product even if I only had the use of one hand/arm. In the kit it goes!

They do burn and burn long enough to get a fire going. With a match or lighter they were great! I also tried to light them by roughing up the edges and starting them with a ferro rod. They work with good preparation but in adverse conditions and the ferro rod just didn't light as fast as I had hoped. I definitely plan to keep them in my fire kit. I cut them into strips and they take almost no room. Totally worth having in the kit as another tinder to go with my go-to emergency tinder (cotton-vaseline-wax)

This product does exactly what it says, if you follow the directions to a “T”.Yes it will light with the smallest of sparks after being in water, but you have to fray the ends to the point of frustration. It will light with an open flame without much work and burns hot and for a decent amount of time.

Really love this as a easy to use tinder for a lighter. I’m sure some people can get it to work with a ferro rod but this isn’t my experience. With a lighter this excels. You can wrap some around a stick as a long lasting match to light your fire, if you’re in real trouble you can unspool a lot of it and light it to warm up fast and get your kindling dry fast. I like to think of it as a long lasting strip of a candle. A means to get a larger fire started quickly.

When this fire roll arrived I was wondering how well it burns, I am pleasantly surprised, from the roll's center five inches, I spent some time fluffing up one end and hit it with my ferro rod, it started up first strike and burned great for around fifteen seconds, it is water proof and lightweight. When I'm out in the woods I'll have small twigs and kindling close by, I found one more great fire method I will use in the future.

My son is into camping and when I purchased this I was skeptical. We took a piece, put it in a puddle outside, submerged it for a moment, took it out and it lit right up. Didn't dry it off or anything. Great product.
